The word Audacity is defined as “rude or disrespectful behaviour” in the dictionary. It would be interesting to know as to why a software would have such a name. Will try to find out more about this.
Well getting started. If you want to grab some music playing on your computer follow the steps below.
- First and foremost get the Audacity software from here. I am currently using v1.2.5 on my MacBook. Its available for Mac, Linux as well as Windows OS. The Audacity webpage has a host of wiki and documentations that will help guide you through the installation process.
- You’ll also require to download the LameMP3 libraray. You’ll require this if you want to save the capture as an mp3 file. You can find Lame MP3 here.
- After installation is done, its time to capture the music. For doing this, play your favourite song/music either on one of the internet radio websites or on the computer itself.
- Start Audacity and hit the record button
. Once your song/music is over hit the stop button. - Next from the “File” menu option select “export as Mp3″ and give the capture a name and save it.
And there you have it. Your eluding melody with you on your harddisk at your disposal as long as you HDD is alive and kicking
You can also try exporting the capture as Ogg vorbis or wav format.
